Need something new to stream on Hulu, Netflix or Amazon? Try The Path on Hulu. Aaron Paul, Michelle Monaghan and Hugh Dancy star in this Hulu original series, which premiered March 30 on the streaming service. New episodes of The Path are available every Wednesday.
The Path centers on the fictional Meyerist cult. Breaking Bad‘s Aaron Paul stars as Eddie Lane, a man who converts to Meyerism but then begins to reconsider his choice. Violet from Pixels, Michelle Monaghan stars as Sarah Lane, Eddie’s wife, who was born into the cult. Hugh Dancy is Cal Roberts, the unofficial leader of the Meyerist movement. Fans of Hannibal will remember his great performance as Will Graham on that show.
The Path comes, in part from executive producer Jason Katims. Parenthood, Roswell, Boston Public and Friday Night Lights are among the shows that Katims has produced previously. He brought Friday Night Lights alum Minka Kelly along to his new show. She plays a cult member that may or may not come between Eddie and Sarah.
While the show’s creators say that they worked very hard to stay away from similarities between Meyerism and Scientology, comparisons are inevitable.
Global Comment describes Meyerism as sort of a mashup of Scientology and a “New Age hippie belief system” in calling The Path Hulu’s next big hit. Slate notes that this show marks an improvement over 11/22/63 in terms of original shows from Hulu.
