Recapping Last Weekend

The Jungle Book easily topped the box office over the weekend.  The film debuted with $103.2 million over the weekend to easily top the $20.2 million debut of Barbershop: The Next Cut and the $10 million second weekend of The Boss. Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice continued its fall with a little over $9 million in its third weekend.

Despite what will likely be a short run at the box office, Dawn of Justice has still made back its $250 million production budget and then some with an estimated $833 million worldwide theater take in 25 days of release.

The Jungle Book has earned approximately $329.3 million worldwide since its release less than a week ago.

The Huntsman: Winter’s War

Wondering what the Huntsman: Winter’s War, starring Chris Hemsworth, Emily Blunt and Jessica Chastain, is about? Jim Vejvoda over at IGN describes it as both a sequel and a prequel to Snow White and The Huntsman. How’s that for confusing? Read the rest of Vejvoda’s review.

Todd M. Thatcher predicts an opening of $26.3 million for The Huntsman: Winter’s War.

A Hologram for the King

A Hologram for the King is flying a bit under the radar, but it does star Tom Hanks, who can definitely carry a film. The Chicago Tribune calls Hanks’ performance “a delight in the desert.” Mick LaSalle of The San Francisco Chronicle calls the film “a pleasure from beginning to end.”

13 Hours: The Secret Soldiers of Benghazi

13 Hours: The Secret Soldiers of Benghazi, London Has Fallen and The Perfect Match all make their way to Keller 8 Cinema in South County this weekend.

13 Hours was somewhat of a letdown at the box office, making just $53 million domestically up until now. Although the movie is based on a book authored in part by the soldiers on the ground in Benghazi, the movie fell victim to Hillary Clinton supporters who denounced the accounts in the book.

I saw this movie shortly after it came out and must say it is one of the best movies I’ve seen in awhile. While I tend to trust these men that were there on September 11, 2012, this movie is fantastic as just that, a movie. Do yourself a favor and see it in theaters.

Make It A Redbox Night

 Misconduct

Misconduct, starring Anthony Hopkins and Al Pacino, is now available at your local Redbox. The movie did not fare well with reviewers, but with Hopkins and Pacino, it’s probably worth a Redbox rental.
