Recapping Last Weekend

Rampage took the weekend box office crown, but fell just shy of expectations with a $35.8 million opening weekend. Dwayne Johnson and Jason Liles, who steals Rampage with his performance as George, barely topped A Quiet Place and its $33 million second weekend.

Truth or Dare earned $18.7 million in its opening weekend in theaters.

Opening This Weekend

Super Troopers 2

Because April 20th falls on a Friday this year, Super Troopers 2 hits theaters. The original Super Troopers opened in theaters back in February of 2002 and pulled in $6.2 million during its opening weekend. Since then, the finest officers in the land have become an important piece of pop culture.

In this sequel, Broken Lizard wants to take you back to that time you first experienced Super Troopers. Reviews have called it cheesy and dumb, which is exactly what you should expect when you buy a ticket.

Todd M. Thatcher predicts an opening weekend of $5.2 million for Super Troopers 2.

I Feel Pretty

Amy Schumer stars in I Feel Pretty, which hits movie theaters this weekend. Schumer stars as Renee, who hits her head one day during a cycling class. Renee suddenly is convinced that she is the most beautiful woman in the world, despite her appearance not changing at all.

Of course the premise is a bit ridiculous, this is a movie not a reality show. Amy Schumer wants people to be inspired by the movie and Amy Schumer is great.

Todd M. Thatcher predicts an opening weekend of $16.2 million for I Feel Pretty.

Traffik

Paula Patton and Omar Epps star in Traffik. It’s in theaters this weekend instead of next weekend, where it was originally slotted.

Patton has appeared in films such as Hitch, Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol, 2 Guns and The Do-Over. She divorced Robin Thicke in 2015 after 21 years together. Patton recently revealed that she has her first boyfriend since the divorce.

Patton was also in the news this week for her connection to Meghan Markle. When Patton and Thicke got married in 2005, Prince Harry’s future wife was a struggling actress and helped create Patton’s wedding invitations.

Todd M. Thatcher predicts an opening weekend of $3 million for Traffik.

See Lean On Pete at Hi-Pointe Backlot This Weekend

Hi-Pointe Theatre is a hidden gem of St. Louis. The Hi-Pointe Backlot is even more so, hidden behind the main theater on McCausland Avenue. Hi-Pointe has been around since 1922 at the Southwest corner of Forest Park and below the world’s largest Amoco sign.

Hi-Pointe Backlot came on the scene in 2015 on the second floor of a building right behind the main theater. It took three years of rehab before the owners of Hi-Pointe spent 60 straight days putting the final touches on the space. The 48-seat theater has drawn stellar reviews from movie fans.

Isle Of Dogs plays at Hi-Pointe Theatre while Lean On Pete opens at Hi-Pointe Backlot.

I Can Only Imagine and Game Night as well as , Paul, Apostle Of Christ move to Keller 8 Cinema in South County this weekend.

We recommend you check out I Can Only Imagine. The film tells the story behind the hit song of the same name by the band Mercy Me. Bart Millard, the lead singer of the band, wrote the song about the relationship he had with father towards the end of the elder’s life. “I Can Only Imagine” is the best-selling Christian song of all time. The movie has made almost $77 million domestically against a budget of just $7 million.

Dennis Quaid stars as the elder Millard. J. Michael Finley, Cloris Leachman and Trace Adkins are also among the cast.

Make It A Redbox Night With The Greatest Showman

Your local Redbox will be busy this weekend. The Greatest Showman, The Post and The Commuter are all now available to rent at your local Redbox.

While Greatest Showman is amazing and you should definitely rent that, you may also want to check out 7 Guardians Of The Tomb. How Kelsey Grammer was a part of this I have no clue.
