Weekend Movie Guide Tammy, Earth to Echo, Deliver Us from Evil

Transformers: Age of Extinction will likely take the box office again over this holiday weekend. Tammy should come is second behind a strong Melissa McCarthy performance. Deliver Us from Evil and Earth to Echo both have the ability to exceed expectations at the box office. Blended and Godzilla make their way to Keller 8. Lone Survivor, RoboCop and Son of God are all available to rent this week from your local Redbox.

Recapping Last Weekend

Transformers: Age of Extinction exceeded lofty expectations and scored a $100 million opening weekend last weekend. It also brought in over $200 million overseas, including $90 million in China alone. 22 Jump Street was distant second in its third week of release with just shy of $16 million in receipts. How to Train Your Dragon 2 sits at almost $122 million after a $13 million third weekend of release. Think Like A Man Too came in fourth with $10 million and has now doubled its $24 million budget. Maleficent rounded out the top five with $8.4 million to push it over the $200 million mark.

Opening This Weekend

Tammy

Will Leitch was not a fan of this movie. The Rotten Tomatoes crew wasn’t either. Entertainment Weekly wants you to watch it just for Melissa McCarthy. Mark Hughes over at Forbes says you shouldn’t let the poor critical reviews keep you from seeing this. He thinks it will pull in somewhere in the $35-$45 million range. Screen Rant is predicting a $25 million opening weekend and a second place finish at the box office, behind Transformers: Age of Extinction.

You can catch Tammy in downtown St. Louis at MX Movies along with Think Like A Man Too and Transformers: Age of Extinction

Deliver Us from Evil

BuzzFeed says Joel McHale is enough to entice you to go see this movie. The movie is based on the memoir of retired New York City cop Ralph Sarchie. The film takes bits and pieces from several of Sarchie’s stories and weaves them together.

Earth to Echo

It’s E.T. meets Goonies. If you need a family movie to see this weekend, this is your choice.

Catch It Before It’s Gone

Keller 8 Cinema welcomes Blended and Godzilla this weekend. With Keller’s throwback prices, either choice is bound to make you feel like you got your money’s worth. I suggest taking this chance to see Godzilla on the big screen.

Make It A Redbox Night

Lone Survivor, RoboCop and Son of God are all available to rent from Redbox this weekend if sitting on the couch eating popcorn is in your plans. All three are receiving better than average ratings on the site. It’s a safe bet you’ll be happy with any of the three.
