My husband and I are huge DD&D fans! That would be Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives for anyone that hasn’t seen the show. DD&D is hosted by Guy Fieri and airs at 11pm on The Food Network. Every year when we take a vacation, we make sure to look up DD&D online to make sure we visit Guy’s pick for the best local eatery there. It suddenly dawned on us over the weekend that we’ve never tried our own local picks here in the STL! So we went online and found 6 local favorites of the show! We decided to hit all 6 before our summer vacation. Our first stop was Highway 61 Roadhouse located in Webster Groves.

Highway 61 Roadhouse

After being seated, we told our waitress that we were on a mission to hit all the DD&D picks from St. Louis. She laughed and immediately started to give us a list of Guy’s favorites. Number one on his list is the BBQ Spaghetti, so obviously that was our first choice. We also ordered the fried catfish and pork steak dinners. For sides we chose the mac n cheese, baked beans, and red beans n’ rice. I know…a lot of food right! I am very happy to report…they didn’t disappoint! The service was fast and the food was delicious.

The mac n cheese was super cheesy with this awesome crumb topping, the red beans n’ rice were tasty, but the baked beans were to die for! I know you’re waiting to hear my critique of the BBQ Spaghetti, and I’m sorry to say that this is the one dish that neither of us really cared for. Although it’s called bbq spaghetti, it tasted a little bland for our taste buds. I would still encourage you to try Highway 61 Roadhouse because everything else was awesome. On a scale of 1 to 10 we gave it a strong 8! Our next stop will be……drum roll please…..the Iron Barley!
