Everyone who knows me knows that I am a cupcake connoisseur. I love baking and decorating cupcakes, and of course devouring a great cupcake is by far the best thing ever. So when I began working in Edwardsville, I was delighted to find a fabulous cupcake shop within walking distance from my office. I fell in love with their cupcakes the minute I tasted one, so I went online to learn more about my great find. As it turns out The Cup has a great story behind their great cupcakes!

IMG_2721 This is not just the fulfillment of a dream; it is the culmination of a life’s work. Ericka Frank is one of the owners and her love for baking started at the age of 12. Ericka opened The Cup in July of 2007; she brought on Nicole Puyear as her new partner. Nicole brings corporate experience and a creative background that she draws on to promote and expand their business. Since 2007, they have opened shops in Edwardsville, Illinois, and Chesterfield and Springfield, Missouri.

The Edwardsville Cup location opened in October of 2009. When you walk in you are met with smiling, energetic faces from a staff that is as sweet as the cupcakes they make! Jennifer is the manager; she has been at The Cup since the opening. She has a top five favorite cupcake list, but admits that it tends to creep up to a list of ten. Lauren, the Head Baker, along with all of the other team members make a recipe for success here in Edwardsville.

IMG_2722 The Cup offers 55 different flavored cupcakes throughout the year. They range from classic flavors like your grandma would make, such as their Red Velvet and the Double Chocolate, to their more edgy creations like the spicy goodness that is the Mayan Mocha.

Did you know that you can pair your favorite cupcake with a fabulous glass of wine?  Visit their website, click on your cupcake of choice, then click on the wine glass for a list of wine, vodka and non-alcoholic beverages to pair your cupcake with. Planning a wedding? Talk to Hannah Vortman, the wedding coordinator, for more scrumptious details.

The mission of The Cup is to provide their guests with the best possible cupcake experience by graciously presenting products of exceptional quality in a genuinely friendly and inviting atmosphere. In my opinion The Cup in Edwardsville goes above and beyond their mission. In addition to great service to the customer, they constantly give back to the community. They will be participating in the Taste of Edwardsville on Saturday, March 29th. Proceeds benefit Edwardsville Neighbors in Need. General Tickets: $75. For more information or to get tickets, visit edwardsvilleneighborsinneed.org/#taste.

So if you find yourself craving a superior treat along with great atmosphere, visit The Cup.
