The 2014 International Consumer Electronics Show was held this past week in Las Vegas. We touched on in it in our Monday Roundup last week. The show  features a week chock full of announcements and product launches from technology companies all over the world. The biggest announcements at the show revolved around wearable technology, like the Jaybird Reign, and the future of television.

All of the major tech blogs gave out their own awards for their favorite products at the show. Engadget loved the Makerbot Replicator Desktop 3D Printer. Tom really liked Project Christine from Razer. SlashGear really liked T-Mobile’s announcement that for users that switch from another mobile carrier to theirs, they will pay up to $650 of their termination fee. Forbes named Belkin’s WeMo Maker kit one of the five “most dispruptive innovations”.

I wasn’t able to attend CES (maybe next year, boss?) but I still put together a list of my favorite stuff at CES.

The WWE Network

I wouldn’t call myself much of a pro wrestling fan at all, but this is pretty cool. St. Louisan SoldierKnowsBest was in attendance at the press conference. I think I might be mostly jealous that he was in the same room as Stephanie McMahon.

AirTame

It’s similar to what the Google Chromecast does in that you plug a dongle into an HDMI port and magic happens. The difference is that this allows you to use any monitor with an HDMI port as a second screen for your computer on laptop.

Panono Panoramic Ball Camera

True, it’s $500, but it’s really cool. It’s a sphere with 36 little cameras in it. The resolution amounts to 108 megapixels. You throw the ball up in the air and it magically takes a picture with each camera at the height of its arc. You can then view the pictures in the app and edit how you wish. The team set up a goal of $900,000 on Indiegogo and blew that away with a current total of more than $1.2 million. That includes five people who bought the ten-camera package for $4,690 and 1 person who booked the team to come out with the prototype camera and take pictures of their event for $9,999. Check out one of the pictures.

Playstation Now

Forget the days of having to buy the newest edition in the NCAA or Madden franchise and immediately rendering the previous year’s purchase worthless. If Sony’s Playstation Now bet pans out, it will bring gaming to a level most of us didn’t see coming. Starting this summer you’ll be able to stream Playstation 3 games to a ton of different devices, like Sony television, mobile phones or your PS Vita. My big question in .was “how do you use the controller”? Odds are it will be connected to your television in a usb or Bluetooth manner.steel-silver-front-400-786fdb056101d49721da42b3d5243efa

Pebble Steel

The Pebble Steel smartwatch got a lot of press at CES. The original Pebble was pretty groundbreaking when it debuted last year. Now the company brings us the Steel, which gives the brand a much more stylish option. Pebble also announced an app store, something that comes from the rise in third parties developing apps for the phone.

Sony 4K Ultra Short Throw Projector

You’ve probably looked at a white wall in your house and thought it’d be really cool if you had a projector to make that wall one big television. You may have thought about the complications of having a projector across the room projecting that image. Sony has solved that problem. With this projector, it sits on the floor against the wall and projects upward. You get a 147-inch 4K image.

The Not So Awesome Michael Bay Moment

Director Michael Bay was supposed to talk about how awesome Samsung’s new televisions are. It did not go so well.

EW got a copy of what Bay was supposed to say. Bay was pretty cool about it writing on his blog.

Ryan is a weird dude. He doesn't cook, yet owns a plethora of kitchen gadgets. He rationalized buying a SodaStream while unemployed. He counts Step Up 2: The Streets as one of his favorite movies along with Footloose, Rent, Grease and Paul Blart: Mall Cop. He loves Mizzou but only wants them in the SEC so he can tailgate in Nashville. He owns a ShakeWeight and AbLounger, but still loves him some John Donut and Billie's Fine Foods. You can get more of Ryan at iLoveSoulard.com or just check the stool on the far end of the bar at iTap in Soulard.
