Lee DeWyze Plays Old Rock House

After seeing Kris Allen come through St. Louis last month, Lee DeWyze will grace St. Louis with his presence this month as he plays the Old Rock House tonight.

Whereas Kris won American Idol in its eighth season, Lee won the next year in season nine. He beat out Crystal Bowersox in the finale.

You may remember season nine for this viral hit.

Casey James came in third behind DeWyze and Bowersox.  He has released a country album and his latest single. “Crying on a Suitcase”, is currently in rotation on country music stations throughout the country. He came a long way from one of the oddest auditions I have seen.

Crystal and Lee were featured in the same segment in the audition shows and did this duet together on Idol:

DeWyze’s coronation song on Idol was a cover of U2’s “Beautiful Day”. Why his coronation song was a cover of a song by one of the most famous bands in the world should boggle your mind.  A better idea would have been to use this classic:

Lee unfortunately was the last Idol winner obligated to sign with 19 Recordings and Sony Music. The first single off the album was to be the title track, Live It Up”. For some reason the track “Sweet Serendipity” was instead released as the first single. A year later, in October of 2011, the CEO of RCA Records announced that Lee was no longer with the label.  However, WuLi records has released three albums featuring Pre-Idol Lee DeWyze. WuLi was the label that released a new DeWyze single to radio stations before the finale aired. Was this to blame for the poor way that Sony/RCA promoted Lee? Who knows. DeWyze did open up a little to The Daily Beast in May of this year.

Here are two of his latest songs that will most certainly make the set list tonight.

The newest single, “Fight”.

 “The Bedroom Door”

The show at the Old Rock House begins at 8:00pm with opener Aaron Kellim. Tickets are $20 at the door or a $57 VIP Meet & Greet ticket is also available.
