St. Louis Needs Beyond Meat

Are you looking for a good substitute for meat? Enter Beyond Meat, a product that mimics meat but is purely plant based. Beyond Meat - a plant based alternative to Chicken

“This is one of the cleanest proteins you can get….You don’t have to worry about any of the additives that are being put into a chicken. It’s just a pure, simple product that comes from plants.”

That is what founder Ethan Brown has to say about his creation. But, if you are like me – you might be asking – what in the world is in a mimic-chicken product? In essence, it is a mix of pea powder, soy, carrot fiber and gluten-free flour. And, get this, Brown licensed the process for making Beyond Meat from our very own University of Missouri. Pretty cool – hey.

Somebody bring Beyond Meat to St. Louis – Please

I am kind of thinking that Beyond Meat needs presence in Missouri. I’m thinking this would be a nice addition to any menu in downtown St. Louis. Or, a specialty grocery store could/would benefit from stocking Beyond Meat. Please know in either case – I would be a frequent customer.

Beef and Pork Do Not Fret

Beef and Pork are next on the docket for Brown who still keeps real life chickens around – for egg purposes only. Let’s face it, there are a plethora of reasons why we should eat less real meat. And, there are a plethora of reasons why we should eat more. Depends on who you listen to.

For me, I am just glad someone made something that supposedly really does look, feel and taste like the real thing.

Has anyone out there eaten Beyond Meat? If so, would love to hear your thoughts.
