Recapping Last Weekend

It stayed atop the weekend box office in its second weekend of release, earning $60.1 million over the weekend. The haul was on top of the $123 million the film earned over its debut weekend. It will top the $400 million mark worldwide this weekend.

American Assassin earned $14.8 million last weekend in its debut while Mother! opened with $7.5 million.

Kingsman: The Golden Circle

The sequel to the 2015 hit Kingsman: The Secret Service is in theaters this weekend with the opening of Kingsman: The Golden Circle.

Taron Egerton and Colin Firth are among those back for the sequel. Halle Barry, Channing Tatum, Elton John, Jeff Bridges and Poppy Delevingne are among those joining the cast for The Golden Circle.

If you’re into these LEGO movies you’re in luck because the latest installment, The LEGO Ninjago Movie, is in theaters this weekend.

Dave Franco, Justin Theroux and Jackie Chain are among those that lend their talents to this film.

Friend Request

Given the behemoth Facebook has become, it was inevitable that we would see trend of movies capitalizing on the phenomenon and the anxieties it brings. Friend Request, in theaters this weekend, is the late installment in this genre.

Bustle says Friend Request will be the scariest film you see all season, in part because elements of the story aren’t that far off from reality.

Todd M. Thatcher predicts an opening of $5.7 million this weekend for Friend Request.
