Recapping Last Weekend

The Mummy was no match for Wonder Woman over the weekend. The Tom Cruise film, making its debut, brought in $31.7 million while Wonder Woman brought in $58.5 million in its second weekend of release. Gal Gadot’s superhero turn has brought in $206 million domestically as of this writing and almost $454 million worldwide.

The weekend’s other two debuts, It Comes At Night and Megan Leavey, had rather disapointing openings. The former brought in $6 million in receipts with the latter bringing in $3.8 million.

All Eyez On Me

Demetrius Shipp Jr. stars as Tupac Shakur in the biopic All Eyez On Me, in theaters this weekend.  The film has had quite the journey to reach theaters. Producer L.T. Hutton told Vulture he personally put a lot on the line getting All Eyez on me.

“I put it all on the line: house, cars. This film damn near took me under. Like Hollywood Shuffle for Robert Townsend, I leveraged everything for this movie. I call it a good investment.”

No word on where Tupac is taking in All Eyez On Me this weekend,  but look for him at a theater near you.

Todd M. Thatcher predicts an opening weekend of $24.4 million for All Eyez On Me.
