Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 opens in theaters around St. Louis this weekend as the only movie opening in wide release. Get Out, Power Rangers and The Promise open at Keller 8 Cinema this weekend in South County this weekend. Gold is among the movies now available to rent at Redbox.

Recapping Last Weekend

The Fate of the Furious easily took the box office crown over the weeked with $19.9 million in receipts. The film is poised to top the $200 million mark domestically later today and has recorded $1.1 billion in ticket sales worldwide.

How to be a Latin Lover was the top debut over the weekend with $12.25 million. The Circle brought in $9 million while Sleight brought in $1.7 million in its debut.

Bollywood film Baahubali 2: The Conclusion brought in $10.4 million while playing on just 425 screens across the country.

Opening This Weekend

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2

Rocket, Star-Lord, Gamora, Drax and company return in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, in theaters this weekend. Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana, Dave Bautista, Vin Diesel and Bradley Cooper return and Kurt Russell and Slyvester Stallone join the cast. While Diesel’s chracter in the original film, Groot, is gone, Diesel returns to voice the role of Baby Groot.

2014’s Guardians of the Galaxy opened just shy of $100 million and brought in a total of more than $333 million at the domestic box office. Worldwide, it topped the $770 million mark.

Todd M. Thatcher predicts an opening weekend of $166.4 million for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2.

Get Out, Power Rangers and The Promise make their way to Keller 8 Cinema in South County this weekend.

Jordan Peele wrote and directed this horror film about an African-American man visiting his Caucasian girlfriend’s family. Critics have loved the film and the movie goers have responded as well. The film with a budget of $4.5 million has made $173 million at the domestic box office thus far.
