Stream Justin Timberlake + The Tennessee Kids On Netflix
Need something new to stream on Hulu, Netflix or Amazon? Check out the concert film Justin Timberlake + The Tennessee Kids on Netflix. The documentary became available earlier this week on the streaming service.
Filmed at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas in early Januaary, this film chronicles the last shows on the singer’s 20/20 Experience Tour, which lasted two years and saw the singer and his band play 134 dates.
Tennessee Kids was directed by Oscar-winning director Jonathan Demme, who also directed The Silence of the Lambs, The Manchurian Candidate and Rachel Getting Married, among other films. In terms of being qualified to take on this role, Demme previously direct documentaries on the Talking Heads, Neil Young and Kenny Chesney.
He was also Timberlake’s personal choice to take on the job, as he told The Hollywood Reporter.
“I basically stalked Jonathan Demme to do this.”
The finished product has been pretty universally praised, with Roger Ebert giving it 3 1/2 stars out-of 4. Decider praised the documentary’s portrayal of Timberlake as a “superstar who loves teamwork.”
Then again, who doesn’t love themselves some JT? Anyone who hates Justin Timberlake probably hates Ken Bone too.
The films opens with Timberlake pulling into the parking lot at the MGM Grand and from there, introduces viewers to the people behind Timberlake that make the show go on. Meet the directors, the band, the dancers and the “token Russian guy.”
Wait with Timberlake, clad in a black tuxedo and bow tie, below the stage as an eerie robotic voice counts down. The former *NSYNC singer then rises onto the stage as the band plays and the show is on. While the music is a star of the show, the scale of the production is pretty amazing. From the lazers to the size of the band to the fancy footwork, it’s all there and mightily entertaining.
Justin Timberlake has dedicated Justin Timberlake + The Tennessee Kids to the late Prince.
