2015 Final Four Field Set

Four teams are now left in the 2015 NCAA Division 1 Men’s Basketball Tournament. The 7th-seeded Michigan State Spartans will join #1 seeds Kentucky, Wisconsin and Duke in Indianapolis for the Final Four next weekend. Michigan State takes on Duke in the first semifinal and Kentucky will put their undefeated season dreams on the line against Wisconsin in the second semifinal on Saturday night.

Tyus Jones led the Duke Blue Devils over Gonzaga yesterday to put Mike Krzyzewski’s squad into the Final Four. Tom Izzo’s Spartans will be making their third appearance in the tournament’s final weekend in the last seven years. Kentucky moved to 38-0 over the weekend when they outlasted Notre Dame 68-66. Wisconsin got standout performances from Frank Kaminsky and Sam Dekker against Arizona to put them in the Final Four.

If you are a fan of any of these four teams and also a fan of terrible, over-priced hats, Nike wants you to buy an ugly 2015 Regional Champions hat.

Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson As Bambi

Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson hosted Saturday Night Live over the weekend with George Ezra has the musical guest. This sketch featuring The Rock as Bambi in a live-action retelling of the classic Disney story was one of the highlights of the night. Entertainment Weekly has a recap of episode 16 of season 40 of Saturday Night Live hosted by Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson.

Seth Rollins Wins WWE World Heavyweight Title Belt At Wrestlemania 31

I’m not sure what exactly a “Money in the Bank” contract is but somehow Seth Rollins used that to beat Brock Lesnar and Roman Reigns to become the WWE World Heavyweight Champion at Wrestlemania 31. Other top moments at Wrestlemania 31 included Daniel Bryan winning the Intercontintental belt and then being congratulated by former title-holders. Wrestlemania 31 was held outdoors at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, CA, the home of the San Francisco 49ers. The 76,976 people in attendance set the attendance record at Levi’s Stadium and the event grossed $12.6 million to become WWE’s highest-grossing event ever. Ronda Rousey came out of the crowd to assist The Rock in a spat with Triple H and Stephanie McMahon. She proceeded to judo-flip Triple H and send McMahon out of the ring as they “laid the smackdown on their candy asses”.

iHeartRadio Puts On iHeartRadio 2015 “Music Awards”

The awards show that deserves to be called an awards show the least took place last night. The 2015  iHeartRadio Music Awards were held at the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles last night. While many of the “awards shows” are pretty lame, this one probably takes the cake. Jason Aldean won Country Song of the Year for “Burnin’ It Down” if that tells you how much of a joke these are. If it doesn’t, then consider that 5 Seconds of Summer won something called Best Fan Army, which I can only assume is a nicer way of saying “Most Delusional Fans”.  What do you expect when a company like Clear Channel, which owns iHeartRadio, puts on an “awards show”? Here’s the full list of “winners” from the 2015 iHeartRadio Music Awards. Rolling Stone has a roundup of the 10 best and worst moments. Florida Georgia Line performed their latest terrible song, “Sun Daze” and looked ridiculous doing it as well. Clear Channel will of course jam the song down the throats on St. Louis country music fans via 93.7 The Bull.

The show created a bit of controversy as host Jamie Foxx made a dumb joke about Bruce Jenner and whatever is going on with him. He also made a stupid joke about Suge Knight, who is possibly a murderer.

Home Scores Huge Debut

Home debuted big at the weekend box office with an estimated $54 million. The big opening probably saved a job or two considering the film’s $135 million budget. Get Hard opened with $34.6 million for second place and Insurgent dropped 57.8 percent to $22 million

We’ll have more on the weekend box office numbers on Thursday in our Weekend Movie Guide. We’ll also preview Furious 7, which opens this weekend.
