The official start of the Christmas shopping season is just 4 days away and small business Saturday is the day after, so all the more reason to highlight one of the coolest local businesses that I have found.

A few weeks ago after perusing local resale shops, I found a funky vintage watch. It was a great find and a steal for just $3, but it was lacking a battery. I was referred to a shop called Crown Luxury Resale to get a battery for my watch. Upon pulling up to the store that is neatly tucked into the corner of a strip mall, I expected to be walking into a pawn shop as the sign out front reads, “Cash for Gold.” I only needed a watch battery so I figured it couldn’t be all bad, but what lay beyond those doors was beyond what I could have imagined.

I walked into a beautiful boutique, full of new and like new designer bags. Naturally, I immediately forgot about the watch battery as I admired countless Coach, Kate Spade, Betsey Johnson, and Louis Vuitton bags. I felt like I had just wandered into purse heaven!! The store also offers jewelry and a small selection of designer clothing as well.

I was greeted by the owners, Butch and Sharon Dowdy, a lovely couple that were fun and personable and took it as their personal mission to help me select the perfect bag. The store offers both new and like new authentic designer bags at deep discounts, but probably the coolest part of the experience is that any gift card that you have acts as cash towards your transaction. I happened to have a $15 gas card that reduced the purchase price of my new Coach bag.

The shop was featured in a small segment on O’FallonTV which you can see here, and really get a feel for everything that they have to offer.

So, start your Christmas shopping at Crown, or instead of stuffing yourself on pasta with that Olive Garden gift card that always seems to find your way into your Christmas loot, go treat yourself to a new bag! Make sure to tell them Shelley sent you!
