Valentine’s Day Ideas

cupcake Valentine’s Day, aka Feast of Saint Valentine, is the second most celebrated holiday around the world after New Years, and it’s right around the corner.

I’ve been thinking about what to do for the holiday and as it began as an expression of romantic love in which lovers expressed their feelings for each other by presenting each other with gifts (valentines), I decided this year I am going to plan a special evening for my loved ones by preparing an amazing feast.

I’m going shopping at Whole Foods to prepare a delicious dinner that I can guarantee everyone in my family will love:

My Valentine’s Dinner Menu: Crab legs and ribeye steak prepared with roasted potatoes and fresh green beans cooked with this new sauce I found by The Ginger People: Ginger sesame. For dessert: chocolate covered strawberries and a nice red wine.

Valentine's Day Jelly Pops In addition, I’m preparing a special treat for my daughter Lilly’s class. You know what that means; Pinterest here I come.
I wanted something fresh but also something sweet and I found these delicious looking Valentine Jelly Pops that I’m going to try out. Then I’m going to add chocolate covered pretzels. This way the kids will get a sweet treat mixed with something healthy.

I know not everyone’s up for cooking or planning a large meal, in which case St. Louis has so many great things to offer with little to no work required. Here are a few I recommend checking out:

Untamed Hearts Valentine’s Day Dinner at the St. Louis Zoo: Thurs, Feb 14th or Fri, Feb 15th with seating at 6pm and 8:30pm, you can treat your loved ones to a 3-course meal complete with wine, a chocolate cake dessert and a comedy performance from Joe Marlotti. 21+, $125 per couple or $62.50 per person.

Bubbles and Chocolate at the Ritz-Carlton: Beginning at 6pm, the Lobby Lounge will feature a festive line-up of champagne, cocktails and chocolate confections. No reservations needed. They will also be offering a 4-course Valentine’s dinner in The Grill. $69 per person. Call for reservations.

Valentine’s Day Family Day at the Contemporary Art Museum: This is a free event on Sat, Feb 16th from 1-4pm. Families can enjoy art exhibitions and an afternoon of activities including face painting, storytelling and more. Wear red to be entered into a special drawing.

Faratto’s Valentine’s Day Romance 2013: Both Villa Farotto in Chesterfield and Foratto’s in Rock Hill are offering a 4-course meal complete with rose petals at your table, a delicious Italian meal, live music and dancing. Reggie D & Gus Duo will be performing from 6-9pm. Call for Reservations

What are your plans for Valentine’s Day?
