Run For The Chocolate, a 5K through the streets of Downtown St. Louis, is coming up next weekend: Sunday, February 10th. 1 day after Mardi Gras and 4 days before Valentine’s Day. run for the chocolate, st. louis

Yes, I know what I just told you is crazy, because who in their right mind would be up and ready to run at 9am the day after Mardi Gras? But let me tell you this isn’t just a run. If you’re still looking for a date or just something to do on Valentine’s Day, this is your chance.

They call it St. Louis’ Sweetest 5K and that is accurate, not just because Bissinger’s is sponsoring it and everyone receives edible chocolate medals, but also because it’s a sweet, lovey kind of Valentine’s Day run. The race groups are broken down by age and relationship status, so it’s a cute little date run for couples or a potentially great way for singles to meet their new significant other. Hello, you already know you have something in common – your love for chocolate…I mean running.

So it’s going down like this:

The race is Sunday, Feb 10th at 9am. It’s a 5k from Laclede’s Landing to Crown Candy and back. (or there’s a 1 Mile Walk for the Chocolate)

Register in advance online for $30 or the day of the race from 7-8:30am for $40. If you’re running as a couple, you can register together in the Happy Couple category and pay $50 total. You can register for this category in person at packet pick-up locations or on race day.

Packet Pick-Up

Thursday, Feb 7th @ Bissinger’s Chocolatier in the CWE from 1-7pm Bisssingers chocolate

Friday, Feb 8 & Saturday, Feb 9 @ Little Shark Athletic Company on Delmar from 10am-6pm

Race Day-Sunday, Feb 10th from 7-8:30am @ O’Fallon Street downtown

Now for the sweet date part. As I said, the race groups are broken down by age and relationship status. So if you are single, you are running with other men and women in your age group who are also single and if you are off the market, you get your own off the market group where you can just run for fun.

The categories:

  • Bachelor & Bachelorette

Age groups: 12-19, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-70, 70+

  • Off the Market Men and Women

Age groups: 12-19, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-70, 70+

  • Cougar Women & Serial Dater Men 40+
  • Love Triangle (3 Person Team)
  • Afraid of Commitment (2 Person Team)

So you can get there early to check out your interests, then after the race hang out and drink hot chocolate and mingle. Registration comes with a Will Run For Chocolate shirt, which will differentiate between single groups and off the market groups to help with mingling.

And win a date…

Winners of the Bachelor &  Bachelorette age groups not only win the race, but also win a blind ice cream date at Bissinger’s with their opposite gender age group winner. bissingers chocolatier

And winners in the Off the Market Categories receive a romantic dessert date with their significant other.

But you don’t have to win the race to get a romantic date. They will also be raffling off post-race romantic prizes, so stay, hang-out and find true love. Ok,  that’s probably going overboard…but hey, it could happen.

Doesn’t know how to cook and survives pretty much on macaroni and cheese and pizza, so naturally, loves to eat out at restaurants. However, one day when she is married and has a family to cook for, she would love to take cooking classes and learn awesome skills like the chefs on Iron Chef America...as long as she doesn't have to clean the dishes afterwards.
