As a brand new resident of Soulard, I have been scouring the online world looking for exciting events to participate in, and I’ll have you know that despite what my friends claim, Soulard is NOT “just for Mardi Gras”. They have exciting events all year long and I will be sharing them and attending them…so get ready St. Louis!

This weekend is the 7th Annual Blues City Deli Streetfest!

Blues City Deli streefest

When: Saturday, August 20th, 2011

Time: 11am-6pm

Where: Blues City Deli in Benton Park…2438 McNair Ave to be more exact. This is the 2nd place I visited as a new Soulard resident. I got the Roast Beef Po-Boy and it was heaven in my mouth! The fact that there are a million (exaggerating of course, but there are seriously a lot!) sandwiches to choose from is amazing, but the words roast beef and aujus tend to make my mouth water, so there was really no other option for me, plus I was having a pickle craving…ok, got off track there…back to the Streetfest.

What: How about an all day festival including BBQ and the most delicious po- boy sandwiches around topped with live music from awesome local bands including The Bottoms Up Blues Gang, Funky Butt Brass Band, Da Lou Two, and more, with a side of ice cold beers.

Delicious food, great performers and SOULARD! What else could you possibly be doing this weekend that’s more exciting?

Doesn’t know how to cook and survives pretty much on macaroni and cheese and pizza, so naturally, loves to eat out at restaurants. However, one day when she is married and has a family to cook for, she would love to take cooking classes and learn awesome skills like the chefs on Iron Chef America...as long as she doesn't have to clean the dishes afterwards.
