Vacationing with a smartphone is the BEST!!

Every period of heavy use results in me having a greater love for my Droid phone.  Worn out from planning our wedding we decided to go to Colorado for our honeymoon and didn’t pre-plan any detail other than we would leave as soon as we got up on Monday morning.

Input Denver Colorado into Google Maps and hit the navigation function and we were voice guided right to the edge of the Rocky Mountains.  Arriving in town at about 9:00pm we found a hotel on mobile Expedia, read the reviews and made a reservation just before arriving in the city.  Trusty Google Maps lead us straight to our destination.  A quick google search led us to some great local music at The Rockaway Tavern in Denver and our plans were set for the night.

My husband is vegan and we don’t like to eat fast food or at national chains on vacations, but we had the most amazing food on this trip.  Happy Cow and Urbanspoon led us to Leaf  an amazing vegitarian place in Boulder, an amazing local Thai place in a strip mall (wouldn’t have stopped there ordinarily), Indian food….wow, the food was just amazing.  Google Maps led us to each one with ease.

We found everything on my phone, sights, hotels, food, we even booked tickets for the Cog Railway all from my phone.  We never got lost (a few times we were told to turn on a street that we couldn’t but we were quickly redirected.)

It was an amazing time, no wasted time figuring out what to do next on our trip that we were planning on the fly.  My need for spontaneity and his need to know where to go next both perfectly met.

Our perfect travel agent!  What has your phone done for you lately?
