I would guess I am not the only one who feels this song spells out my life!  Fun fact…she wrote the famous title song by playing the melody on her acrylic fingernails.

We all knew this was coming, my first post about Dolly…

‘9 to 5’ has always been one of my favorite movies – I actually wrote my thesis in graduate school on sexual harassment partly because of this movie.  I think office dynamics are fascinating and even more so in the 1980’s!  This movie was one of the first real, powerful, women in the workplace movies.  I can’t wait to check it out at The Fabulous Fox in St. Louis this month!! 

The great news is, the musical version is still set in the 80’s so it will be super funny and full of all that was great about that time period!  Dolly wrote all new songs for the musical – some of which are available for download on the Fabulous Fox website (in case you want to sing along like myself). 

Diana DeGarmo, former American Idol contestant and previously, a performer at Dolly’s theme park DollyWood, plays Dolly’s former character Doralee Rhodes.  Last fun fact…this was Dolly’s first movie and she has said in the past that she memorized the entire script including everyone else’s parts – the rest of the veteran cast were highly amused and often asked Dolly if they forgot one of their lines! 

The show actually opens on Tuesday, February 8^th and runs through the 20^th.  You can purchase tickets at the Fox box office or through MetroTix.  So after all the football craze this weekend, make sure to grab your tickets!
