Something as insignificant as pillows can add a lot of life to your home.
I went on a huge apartment search last year in St. Louis and found one thing to be common—most apartments are completely boring. Err… I mean neutral. The walls are off-white, the carpet is a light tan, the counters are beige. The landlord says you aren’t allowed to paint.
Let’s start in the living room. I own a light beige couch and chair. Talk about a colorless, boring apartment. I decided to fix this with very loud pillows and a few accessories. (Much cheaper than buying a new couch…)
If you are out shopping and see a picture or vase you can’t live without, buy it! Build around it. I always start with one—maybe two items and go from there. You can’t go wrong if you start with something you love!
Just don’t forget the pillows. They not only jazz up the room but they make your furniture warm and welcoming.
