Scroll down for a preview of Wednesday’s match. There has not been news as of this writing about Zlatan Ibrahimovic banishing any of his LA Galaxy teammates to Sibera and replacing them with Los Dos players.

Last Time Out

Saint Louis FC played to a 0-0 draw with Portland Timbers 2 over the weekend at Soccer Park. Kyle Greig seemed to score for the home side in the 66th minute, but the head referee ruled him offside.

Galaxy II led Phoenix Rising FC 3-1 at the half last Friday. Unfortunately for Los Dos, Didier Drogba and company needed less than 35 minutes in the second half to score three goals and keep LA from its first win of 2018.

LA Galaxy II Roster Has Been Fluid This Season

LA Galaxy II, the USL affiliate of Major League Soccer’s LA Galaxy, has dropped four of its last five matches. That stretch includes a 1-0 loss to STLFC back on April 14 in St. Louis.

Twenty seven different players have seen playing time this season for head coach Mike Muñoz. By comparison, only 19 players have appeared for Anthony Pulis in 2018.

Whereas Pulis has benefited from four defenders in front of Jake Fenlason who have spent every minute on the pitch this season, only defender John Requejo holds that distinction for LA. Midfielder Julian Buescher is the only other player with more than 450 minutes played, in fact. Saint Louis has nine players above that mark.

Youngsters On Display For Los Dos

17-year old Ulysses Llanez has scored twice this season for Muñoz, leading the team. His goals have come in each of the last two games.

Three others players have scored a goal apiece.

One of those three is 15-year old Efrain Alvarez. The youngster scored his first professional goal last week against Phoenix.

Alvarez is a product of the LA Galaxy Academy, which will be celebrated Wednesday night at StubHub Center. Llanez and Alex Mendez are current Academy members playing for Galaxy II this season.

Diedie Traore has yet to see action this season for Galaxy II, but could soon. The 19-year old Traore grew up playing Academy soccer in France and recently became the first players signed by the Galaxy after an open tryout.

Volesky Traded, Martz Out 3-5 Months

Anthony Pulis has been pretty consistent with his lineup thus far this season. With Wednesday night being the second of three in a week’s time, one would expect the lineup to look a little different in Los Angeles.

Developments today could change things even more. The club announced today that Christian Volesky has been traded to Oklahoma City Energy FC and will receive an addition international roster spot in return.

Also in the announcement was news that Austin Martz will be out 3-5 months after undergoing surgery for a torn hip muscle.

Edward Opoku could also be available for selection after being unavailable against Portland. The 21-year old Ghanian midfielder was loaned to Saint Louis last month by Columbus Crew SC.

Wednesday Is Wine Wednesday At StubHub Center

La Galaxy II plays the majority of its home matches the Track & Field Stadium at the StubHub Center facility in Carson, California. The 2,000-seat stadium is part of a 125-acre complex that also includes the 30,000-seat main stadium as well as an 8,000-seat tennis stadium and a Velodome.

The MLS side and the NFL’s Los Angeles Chargers call the main stadium home. The entire complex sits on the California State University, Dominguez Hills campus.

Barefoot Wine will be sponsoring Wine Wednesday as LA Galaxy II hosts Saint Louis FC. The company offers wine samples and concession stands offer $3 Barefoot Wine during the match. Word is that all home matches feature $2 beers and tacos at concession stands.

Single-game general admission tickets to LA Galaxy II matches are $10.

Late Start Dooms Louligans Watch Party

The St. Louligans supporters group typically hosts watch parties at Kirkwood Station Brewing Company in Kirkwood for all Saint Louis FC away matches. The late start, coupled with it being a school night, means there will not be a watch party for this match.

Kirkwood Station typically closes at 10 pm on Wednesdays as well.

Without a watch party, streaming the match on ESPN+ is your only option Wednesday. This Saturday’s game against Orange County SC will be shown in the St. Louis area on KPLR 11.
