It’s a slow weekend in St. Louis, but if you’re looking to venture out, here are some good weekend events in St. Louis for Thursday, January 4th through Sunday, January 7th, 2018.

12th Night: Soulard Mardi Gras season is here! The festivities start at 5pm with the petitioning of the Mardi Gras, Inc. Board of Directors. Dignitaries, parade krewes, community organizations, and anyone else of good will and cheer is encouraged to make a creative appeal to the Board to host the annual pre-lenten celebration. At 6:45, after a lengthy, tense, and somewhat raucous debate the Board emerges to announce it’s decision. And much like the election of a Tamany Hall candidate there isn’t much suspense surrounding the decision. A decision of this magnitude must be properly fete’d and what better way to do so than with a parade through the streets of Soulard stopping along the way to toast at several of Soulard’s venerable establishments. It all culminates at Soulard Market in Rudy Commons (the brick plaza in front of the market) with the coronation of the 2018 Rex.

Memories of Elvis: feat. Steve Davis and the Midsouth Revival with Rivertown Sound & Double Trouble, Thomas Hickey as Buddy Holly, Shanna Fredrick as Patsy Cline. There’s a difference between a performance and an experience, between an impersonation and a recreation, and between a moment and a memory. Anyone that has seen Elvis in concert before will tell you it wasn’t a performance – it was an experience. They can tell you the difference between the two is in the details, and they can also tell you an Elvis experience is an electrifying one that you never forget. “Memories of Elvis” is about the details. It’s about creating an experience as opposed to a performance by infusing exhaustive research into a live event that will take your breath away. It’s an electrifying two-hour concert experience featuring powerful rhythm sections complimented with harmony, vocalists, and horns. “Memories of Elvis” journeys through Elvis’ music from the early Sun Recordings through the latter Las Vegas Showroom appearances – making it unmatched as the largest of any Elvis impressionist.

Doesn’t know how to cook and survives pretty much on macaroni and cheese and pizza, so naturally, loves to eat out at restaurants. However, one day when she is married and has a family to cook for, she would love to take cooking classes and learn awesome skills like the chefs on Iron Chef America...as long as she doesn't have to clean the dishes afterwards.
