Recapping Last Weekend

The Fate of the Furious again topped the weekend box office last weekend. F8 brought in $38.4 million last weekend in its second weekend of release. The Boss Baby continued its stellar theater run with $12.7 million in its fourth weekend of release. The animated film is now closing in on $137 million during its domestic theater run.

The live-action remake of Beauty and the Beast brought in $9.6 million last weekend and has now passed $470 million at the domestic box office. It has passed the $1.1 billion mark worldwide.

Unforgettable brought in $4.8 million last weekend in its debut. Phoenix Forgotten brought in $1.8 million.

Opening This Weekend

The Circle

Emma Watson and Tom Hanks star in The Circle, in theaters this weekend. Watson stars as an employee of an internet company, The Circle, founded by characters played by Tom Hanks and Patton Oswalt. As Mas Holland (Watson) climbs the ladder at the company, she realizes certain things about The Circle.

The movie is based on the best-selling book by Dave Eggers.

Bill Paxton plays Vinnie Holland, Mae’s father. It was his final role before his death back in February.

Todd M. Thatcher predicts an opening weekend of $16.3 million for The Circle.

How To Be A Latin Lover

How To Be A Latin Lover, starring Eugenio Derbez, Salma Hayek, Rob Lowe and Kristen Bell, opens in theaters this weeke.

Chris Spain and Jon Zack wrote the script for this comedy. It’s the first credit for Spain and the third for Zack. Jon Zack previously wrote the screenplays for Out Cold and The Perfect Score.
