Dana White Blames Las Vegas Doctors For Nurmagomedov-Ferguson UFC Fight Cancellation

Khabib Nurmagomedov and Tony Ferguson were scheduled to co-headline UFC 209 Saturday night. Their title fight was cancelled on Friday afternoon when Nurmagomedov was hospitalized in Las Vegas. While no official reason was given, it was rumored that the hospital stay stemmed from issues with weight cutting.

UFC President Dana White addressed the issue during the UFC 209 press conference and said that it’s possible that if Nurmagomedov had gone to UFC doctors instead, the fight could have been saved.

“What would’ve been different was if he would’ve called Dr. (Jeff) Davidson or Brianna (Mattison), the two who handle the medical stuff for the UFC,” White said during the UFC 209press conference. “Apparently, he was treated horribly at Sunrise Hospital. That’s no shock. He should’ve gone to Valley Hospital, he should’ve been with Doc D, Doc D would’ve got him right in. They would’ve checked his vitals; they would’ve seen where he was.”

915 Coins Removed From Belly Of Sea Turtle

Surgeons in Bangkok recently removed 915 coins from the belly of Bank the sea turle. How did Bank manage to invest all that coin? Like too many of these stories, tourists are the culprits. Throwing coins into a fountain for good luck is a popular superstition. In Thailand, throwing coins on turtles is said to bring longevity. People are dumb so, of course they don’t think about the turtles eating the coins. They surely don’t think that the turtle will eat 11 pounds worth of coins and the accumulated mass will crack it’s ventral shell and almost kill the poor turtle.

Bank’s surgery was paid for by $428 in doantions taken in after the media highlighted her story. The turtle has to be on a liquid diet for the next two weeks. It’s apparently unknown how well she will recover.

Massive Layoffs May Be Coming To ESPN

In a story posted yesterday on SI.com Richard Deitsch, who has an excellent podcast you should listen to, reports that ESPN is going to have to cut tens of millions from its payroll in the coming months. Many of those cuts will likely come from in front of the camera, rather than behind it. It’s said that those with expiring contracts could be the first to go.

Since 2011, ESPN has gone from over 100 million subscribers to 88 millions at the end of last year.
