Grease: Live!

We’ve all seen the movie; a 1978 classic starring John Travolta and Olivia Newton-John. And the movie, of course, is based off the 1971 musical created by Jim Jacobs and Warren Casey, which has been re-produced many times in the U.S., London, and Australia, with many stars including:  Richard Gere, Megan Mullally, Brooke Shields, and Frankie Avalon and Taylor Hicks played the Teen Angel. And it truly never gets old.

Which is why I’m extremely excited about the special one-night event airing on FOX this month: Grease: Live! It’s not the Broadway musical, it’s not the movie – it’s a mix of the two…and it’s a one-night live event. They recently announced it will be taped in front of a studio audience in Burbank, CA. Tickets aren’t available yet, but you can submit your info to be notified as soon as they go on sale.

What’s even more exciting is the fresh, young cast of talented singers and actors! Julianne Hough is amazing and I loved her in the Footloose re-make and Rock of Ages. Vanessa Hudgens is equally talented with a gorgeous  voice and I’m excited to see her back in the music world. Aaron Tveit (Danny) is a Broadway guru, having been in Rent, Hairspray, Wicked and Catch Me If You Can. Carly Rae Jepsen as Frenchy-Yass! Mario Lopez as Vince Fontaine will surely be entertaining! And apparently Jessie J will open the show with a special arrangement of the song “Grease (Is the Word).”

This has been added to my calendar and I’ve already bought the popcorn. Don’t forget to tune in to FOX on Sunday, January 31st at 6pm Central to catch the one-night live broadcast of Grease…or at least don’t forget to DVR it.

Doesn’t know how to cook and survives pretty much on macaroni and cheese and pizza, so naturally, loves to eat out at restaurants. However, one day when she is married and has a family to cook for, she would love to take cooking classes and learn awesome skills like the chefs on Iron Chef America...as long as she doesn't have to clean the dishes afterwards.
