Devin James is Back With A Ferguson-Related Memoir

Remember Devin James? He’s the public relations guy that briefly worked for the St. Louis Economic Development Partnership on issues in Ferguson.

Now he’s back with a book about himself and the “character assassination that occurred when James refused to play along“. I’m guessing that bit of spin is about the whole people found out he previously killed someone and gives his clients really bad advice.

If the book were maybe $5 I would buy it on my Kindle just to see what kind of crazy things are in there, but no way am I buying Inside Ferguson: A Voice for the Voiceless from Amazon for $18.

Because I can’t really give any insight into what’s in the book, here’s the trailer.

Is Amazon An Awful Place To Work? Jeff Bezos Doesn’t Think So

Is Amazon an awful place to work?

Don’t think for a second that me not buying that book is some kind of protest against Amazon. It’s solely because I have better things to spend my money on than that guy’s book. But speaking of Amazon, CEO and founder Jeff Bezos is not happy about a recent New York Times article. The NYT article in question, “Inside Amazon: Wrestling Big Ideas In A Bruising Workplace” was published over the weekend. The authors talked to more than 100 current and former employees of Amazon for the story. Bezos  says that Amazon would never tolerate many of the practices described in the article.

Straight Outta Compton exceeded expectations in its debut weekend with $56.1 million to lead the weekend box office.  Late last week in my Weekend Movie Guide I cited expectations from The Hollywood Reporter that the film would make in the $25-$35 million range.  The newest Mission: Impossible made an estimated $17 million in its third weekend to beat The Man From U.N.C.L.E.‘s disappointing debut of $13.5 million.

I’ll have my on the weekend box office numbers on Thursday in my Weekend Movie Guide. I’ll also preview the movies opening this weekend, Sinister 2, American Ultra, Hitman: Agent 47 and Grandma.

Awful-Tasting Soylent May Be Getting Sued

Stay with me on this one. There are people out there that instead of eating food for some meals, they drink a terrible, awful, no-good, very bad awful tasting shake thing. Soylent claims to be all nutritional and good for your body. I know someone who drinks this stuff and he had me try a sip of this one day. Imagine putting a stick of chalk (white, not the fun colored ones) in a glass of water and then drinking it. Seriously it is god-awful.

An environmental health watchdog group is claiming Soylent has levels of lead and cadmium that violate California’s Safe Drinking Water and Toxic Enforcement Act.

Seriously, people. Real food is delicious and God’s gift to us. Eat it.  The founders of our great country would want you to eat food.
