stan musial bridge Stan Musial Veterans Memorial Bridge Opening: The I-70 Stan Musial Veterans Memorial Bridge across the Mississippi River is opening just in time to celebrate the 250th anniversary of the founding of the City of St. Louis. The day before it opens, STL and TrailNet are hosting a bike ride over the Mississippi on 3 different spans: the new Stan Musial Veterans Memorial Bridge, the Old Chain of Rocks Bridge, and the McKinley Bridge. There will be 2 routes: 7 miles and 32 miles. Register in advance on-line: $28. Children: $3. Price includes cool commemorative t-shirt. In addition to the ride, activities on the new bridge will include: 6-K run hosted by St. Louis Sports Commission and Big River Running, 6-mile individual cycling time trial presented by Big Shark, the opportunity to walk, ride, or run on the bridge independently beginning at 12pm, a ribbon cutting by bi-state dignitaries at 2pm, and finally a parade at 3pm.

stl ambush St. Louis Ambush vs Baltimore Blast: Indoor soccer in St. Louis has returned. The season kicked off last weekend against the Milwaukee Wave. In addition to the game, the arena is offering a Chef’s Table Buffet. The menu this week includes a tossed club chop salad, pulled chicken noodle soup, slow roasted top round with a mushroom bordelaise sauce, lobster and shrimp raviolis and specialty desserts. Head out to the game and a pre-game dinner for $19.95 (adults) and $9.95 (children).

cod and cask Cod and Cask Festival: A weekend of beer battered Icelandic cod & chips fried and perfectly paired with cask-conditioned ales; carbonated in the cask and hand pumped to the bar at “cellar temperature.” Purely authentic, purely delightful and only at The Tap Room. This event is free and open to the public with live music be the The Red Headed Strangers and The Trophy Mules.

first friday First Friday at the Science Center: First Fridays at the Science Center offer something for everyone. Starting at 6pm, you can check out the Dino Overlook, design what you think the house of the future will look like in the Maker Space, experience a 1950s’ view of the future through materials from the Monsanto House of the Future, see what local entrepreneurs have planned for the future, test games created by local video game developers, glimpse the future through the eyes of Arch Reactor. At 8pm, join in: Humans, Cyborgs, and Robots: Who Is a Person and Who Is Not?, a conversation between science fiction writer Mark W. Tiedemann and scientist Keith Miller. From 6-9pm, try on Google Glass. At 7pm, join in Trivia, and at 8:30 and 10pm, check out The Beatles laser show in the Laserium ($10). There will be food and drink specials all night, plus special pricing on Omnimax movies including Titans of the Ice Age, Jerusalem, Kilimanjaro, and Back to the Future (free).

third degree Wall Ball at Third Degree: Wall Ball is one of the most anticipated art and social events of the year. In a unique silent auction format, Wall Ball showcases the live creative process of top established and emerging artists in St. Louis while patrons compete to secure these unique, original artworks. This lively party is attended by over 500 art enthusiasts, collectors and admirers every year. This year will feature an array of artists in varying mediums, a super fun photo booth and a caricature artist! All proceeds will stay directly in St. Louis and benefit the St. Louis City Open Studio and Gallery. GA tickets are $30, VIP (includes beer & wine) are $50.

4 hands 4 Hands Beer Tasting: Come enjoy a fun and education beer tasting of some of the new beers from 4 Hands Brewery. Find out why they are doing so great in St. Louis that they are opening a brewery in Chicago! The event will include beer tastings paired with a Beer Braised Chicken Slider and Beer Cheddar Soup. Enjoy live music from The Younger Brothers. Tickets are $15. Advanced reservations are required.

roller derby Arch Rival Roller Girl Derby: The 2014 Roller Derby season has begun. Don’t miss out on this week’s bouts. First bout: M-80s vs RSA. Second bout: Smashinistas vs Stunt Devils. This event is the local season play-offs. The winners of this event’s will go on to compete against each other at the Local Season Championships at Chafeitz Arena on March 7th.

chandler hill Chandler Hill Winery Winter Release: The official release party for their newest West Coast Limited Edition Wines. Each of the wines have been sourced from top growers and producers in Napa Valley and Sonoma. Attendees will receive a “heathy pour” of each wine. In addition, they will be pouring an outstanding “mystery wine” that has yet to be released. Chef has prepared a variety of passed hors d’oeuvres to compliment each wine. Check the website for wines being released. Tickets are $45.
