Mizzou Gets Out-coached in Atlanta

Mizzou got beat 59-42 in the SEC Championship game by Auburn. Mizzou defense, praised by Alabama coach Nick Saban earlier in the day and great all season, was demolished by the Auburn running game. Missouri was only down 3 going into the fourth quarter, but gave up two touchdowns to Tre Mason without scoring anything themselves to let the game get out of hand. Mizzou comes in at #8 in the latest BCS standings while Auburn comes in at #2. Auburn will play Florida State for the BCS Championship on January 6th. Mizzou will play Oklahoma State in the Cottton Bowl on January 3. We’ll hope Henry Josey is ok after getting hurt on this play late against Auburn. Note: The Auburn player got a 15-yard penalty called on him, but was allowed to stay in the game for some reason.

Mega Millions up to $344 Million

It’s the largest jackpot this year and would result in a $184 million check if you took the lump sum option. In Missouri you would be left with $130.6 million after taxes. No matter where the winning ticket is sold, it is subject to a 25% federal tax. That comes out to $46 million on someone taking the lump sum. Talk about paying more than your fair share in taxes. Good news is you would still be able to afford multiple things from this list.

Why Are the Winter Olympics in Russia?

I don’t know that there is anything that could make me want to step foot in Russia, even the upcoming Winter Olympics that start February 7. Russian President Vladimir Putin decided that he would just dissolve the main state news agency and replace it with one “that is to promote Moscow’s image abroad.” The President of Germany announced that he will also boycott the games. Russia also has laws on the books that make it illegal to spread “propaganda for non-traditional sexual relations” to minors, whatever that means.

Garth Brooks announced today that he will go on tour beginning next year.

 

Torre, LaRussa and Cox All Get to the Hall

Former St. Louis managers Joe Torre and Tony LaRussa were elected to the Hall of Fame today along with formed Atlanta manager Bobby Cox. All were elected by unanimous vote. Torre also played for the Cardinals for a stint during his playing career. He won the 1971 NL MVP award with them.

What’d Miley Wear?
