One of the bonus rounds of living in a large city (said the country raised girl) is the opportunity to be involved in charitable events that have meaning to your life and help others. St. Louis hosts tons of charitable golf tournaments, bicycle races, runs, walks, dance marathons, cooking contests-the list goes on.

This past weekend was one of the largest races, The Susan G. Komen Race For The Cure. Races like this remind us that there is power in participation, regardless of your level of ability. So, whether you can walk, run, organize or cheer someone on, there is probably an event out there for you! I found some upcoming races and thought I would share them. The organization accomplishes this through community collaborations, school based programming and the creation of new and fun fitness events.

2ND ANNUAL GATEWAY CUPCAKE 5K RUN & WALK

A classic battle between those who eat and those who compete. The Gateway Cupcake will pit speedy runners against speedy eaters in a battle between foot and mouth. Participants can deduct up to 5 minutes per Cupcake at 5 Cupcake Stations along the race course for a maximum of 25 minutes off of their finishing time. Benefiting Lift For Life Academy- St. Louis’ first charter school serving city children. Multiple awards will be given in different categories and age groups.
