WATERWORLD at the PHD Art Gallery (2300 Cherokee Street)

Michelle Hamilton’s beautifully designed Aquatic Glass will be on display alongside fine art photographer Ed Freeman’s sensual Underwater Nude Photography at the PHD Art Gallery from March 9th – May 18th. Twenty-four of Freeman’s digital prints and eighteen of Hamilton’s glass vessels will be available for viewing. In addition, there will be a free, public opening reception for artists on Saturday, March 9th from 7-10pm.
Stout & Oyster Festival at Schlafly Tap Toom (2100 Locust)
Date: Friday, March 8 – Saturday, March 9
Time: Friday: 5pm-Midnight, Saturday: 11am-Midnight
Details: Live Music – Friday: Brown Bottle Fever from 5-9, Saturday: Duddy Breeks from 2-5pm & Gumbohead from 6-9pm
A beer and food festival with 30,000 fresh oysters and teams of star shuckers from both coasts. Pair them with 3 styles of Schlafly stout: Oatmeal Stout, Coffee Stout, and Nitro Irish Stout.
In addition to the Schlafly festivities, you can enjoy oyster events at Sqwire’s on Thursday, at 5:30pm, at Stagger Inn on Saturday from 2-9pm & Vin de Set on Sunday at 4pm.
Green With Indie Craft Show at Webster University’s Grant Gym (175 Edgar Rd)
Date: Saturday, March 9th
Time: 10am-5pm
An eco-friendly craft show by STL Craft Mafia with salvaged, upcycled, recycled, home grown & made, refurbished and 100% original art and designs. In addition to the art, there will be a DIY eco-gift wrap station, a food truck lineup, music by KDHX, and a fun and free Woodland Photo Booth.
The Purple Ball at the Renaissance Grand Hotel Crystal Ballroom
Date: Saturday, March 9
Time: Begins at 6:00pm
Details: A fundraiser to benefit The Lupus Foundation of America, Heartland Chapter. Cocktail attire with a splash of purple
The Renaissance Grand Hotel is hosting The Purple Ball for The Lupus Foundation. The event will include a reception featuring beer, wine, soda and a purple cocktail created specifically for the event. Entertainment will be provided by Moor & Moore Jazz Ensemble. Raffle tickets can be purchased for $10 for the designer Galatea’s $2775 Purple Hope Necklace courtesy of MSG Jewelers. A dinner, live auction and Lupus Leadership Awards Ceremony will take place from 7-10pm with KMOV’s evening news anchor, Sharon Reed, as Master of Ceremonies.

4th Annual Off White Indie Wedding Show at Mad Art Gallery (2727 S. 12th St)
Date: Saturday, March 9 & Sunday, March 10
Time: 3/9 – 6-9pm, 3/10 – 10am-3pm
A non-traditional wedding show for couples who want a unique spin on their wedding. It features all the traditional wedding services: photographers, caterers, cakes, wedding gowns, etc but with an emphasis on eco-friendly products and small businesses & independent vendors selling unique products. The event will also have an interesting photo booth, cotton candy machine, chocolate tastings by Kakao and more.
Tickets: $10 (First 100 brides receive a free gift bag filled with coupons, samples and goodies)
Blues Cause For Paws at BBs Jazz & Blues (701 S. Broadway)
Date: Sunday, March 10
Time: 12-6pm
Cost: $10 donation at the door to benefit HALO
Support animal rescue efforts and listen to great live music from Jim Stevens, Lucky Old Sons, Soulard Blues Band, Miss Jubilee & the Humdingers, Rich McDonough & Rough Grooves & Big Mike Aguirre & the Blu City All-Stars. This event presented by HALO, will help aid the efforts to find loving homes for pets. In addition to live music, there will also be door prizes and a 5/50 raffle. Celebrate great local music, animals and great food all at the same time.
