Make espresso at home without spending a boatload!

This is my coffee maker, isn’t he cute? Actually the coffee maker he uses looks pretty awesome too.  Not only does it make a great cup of coffee that is bold, never bitter.  But it looks totally cool sitting on the stove every day.  Now, this is not about a true espresso made in a thousand dollar machine.  This is about a fanstatic cup of coffee for an espresso lover brewed at home without making a sizeable investment.

Enter, the Bialetti 6800 Moka Express 6-Cup Stovetop Espresso Maker.  They key to making coffee that isn’t bitter is a fast, consistent brew.  Not letting the hot water slowly filter through the grounds of a drip pot.  There is something to be said for the ease of a drip pot but if  you love your coffee it will just never taste quite right.  My sister-in-law was lovely enough to not only tell my husband about this awesome coffee maker, but she bought him one and and had it sent to us.  They are around $25.00 and available on Amazon or at Target.  Pretty easy to use (do not keep the lid up while using it, you will be scalded by hot flying coffee).  I do highly recommend grinding whole beans fresh for each pot.  I know I know, doesn’t seem like something I would do, but  in comes my #1 coffee maker (the cute one at the top) who has an amazing attitude that if you are going to bother doing something you should seek perfection in everything you do.  Lucky me!!!!

Do you brew special coffee at home?  I’d love to hear how to  tips. We are always seeking the perfect cup of home brewed goodness.
