Fortunately that is not true for me, I’ve only made two serious attempts at quiting smoking. The last one was about a year ago, I was doing really well until several weeks in when personal tragedy struck and I found the situation too stressful to deal with while trying to quit smoking.

It is the beggining of March, spring is just around the corner, time to get outside, the time for new beginnings. I’m ready to try again. Monday will be the day. I’m going cold turkey.

My preparation:
Clean up all cigarette butts from the yard etc.
Clean out my car and make it smell nice and fresh
Load up on sugar free gum, other stuff to chew on
Tell as many people as possible to feel accountable
Find a more productive stress outlet

I’m fortunate to have a wonderfully supportive fiance who is a non smoker, plus he’s very patient so if there are a few meltdowns along the the way he can see the big picture of what I am trying to do and has the foresight to know it won’t last forever. Saturday is the day I will clean everything out and make sure I have an ample supply to things to fiddle with and chew on in every possible location. I used to run on a very regular basis and miss it terribly, so that is what I have chosen to be my stress outlet. Feeling the burn in my lungs will hopefully keep me motivated.

I will post honest updates on how my progress is going and how I am feeling so check back often.  Hopefully it will inspire and not frighten those who wish to quit. Join me on my journey or just support me.  Heck, you can even just stop by for what will surely be some comic relief.
