Team Foxcatcher Is Now Available To Stream On Netflix

Need something new to stream on Hulu, Netflix or Amazon? Try Team Foxcatcher on Netflix. This isn’t the 2014 movie that starred Steve Carell, Channing Tatum and Mark Ruffalo. This is a Netflix original documentary on John E. du Pont, his wrestling dreams and the murder of Dave Schultz. The documentary, including previously unseen footage, is now streaming on Netflix.

Indiewire calls Jon Greenhalgh’s project “massively unsettling and deeply researched.” Greenhalgh created the documentary along with executive producer Nancy Schultz, Dave’s widow. Mark Schultz, Dave’s brother played by Channing Tatum in the 2014 film, was not involved in the project and does not appear. Whereas the previous film took some liberties with the story, the documentary does not.

Much of the footage used in the film was shot by Nancy Schultz while her family lived at du Pont’s Foxcatcher Farms. She told IndieWire that the entire documentary has been six years in the making. The New York Times notes that this documentary takes a closer look at the events leading up to the January 1996 tragedy than the ESPN 30 for 30 documentary, The Prince of Pennsylvania.

John E. du Pont died in a Pennsylvania prison on December 9, 2010 at the age of 72. He left us with many questions about the mental illness that led to Dave Schultz’s death.
