John Oliver Takes On Scientific Studies On Last Week Tonight

John Oliver took on scientific studies in this weekend’s edition of Last Week Tonight. He touched on how scientists need to publish things as often as possible to be considered “successful”. He also discussed “p-hacking” and the lack of fact-checking happening in the scientific community. The highlights of the segment are Oliver going over sensationalized headlines about scientific studies and mocking the community with “TED Talks.” There’s a reason “everything causes cancer” is a popular phrase.

Sharon and Ozzy Osbourne Splitting After 33 Years

Rumors came out over the weekend that Sharon and Ozzy Osbourne are ending their marriage after 33 years. Ozzy has dealt with alcoholism in that past, but is said to have been sober since a relapse in 2013. Gossip site Hollywood Life has a story saying that Osbourne’s kids, Jack Aimee and Kelly, can’t get in contact with their father and are worried he has relapsed again.

McDonald’s Seeing Success With Garlic Fries

McDonald’s recently started a limited test in the San Francisco area of a new garlic fries menu item. According the SFGate.com, the company has sold out of the Gilroy Garlic Fries in the area much earlier than expected.

Saint Louis FC Picks Up 3 Points Against Swope Park

Saint Louis FC hosted the Swope Park Rangers of Kansas City over the weekend for the first time at World Wide Technology Soccer Park. STLFC beat Swope Park, a new entry into the United Soccer League, 3-0, to earn a valuable three points in the Western Conference. Schillo Tshuma, Chad Bond and Irvina Herrera scored for St. Louis and Mark Pais picked up the clean sheet.

Announced attendance for the game was 5,023. Saturday’s three points puts STLFC fourth in the Western Conference with 11 points on the season. The team is back in action this Saturday in Louisville taking on league-leading Louisville City. Like all of the USL games, the game will be streamed live for free on YouTube.

The next home match for Saint Louis FC is scheduled for Wednesday, May 18, where they will host a second round game of the 2016 Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup. They will play the winner of AFC Cleveland of the NPSL and GPS Portland Phoenix, a PDL club out of Maine.

Captain America: Civil War Brings In $181.8 Million In Debut

Captain America: Civil War easily took the weekend box office crown in its debut, although its total was a little lower than expected. The film brought in an estimated $181.8 million, lower than the $205.6 million estimate from Todd M. Thatcher.

The Jungle Book brought in an estimated $21.9 million in its fourth weekend of release. The film has now brought in almost $285 million domestically and more than $776 million worldwide.
