STL Weekend Events: July 23-26

The St. Louis Weekend Events Guide for Thursday, July 23rd through Sunday, July 26th, 2015.

SLAM Art Hill Film Series: A free film series on Art Hill. Continuing with the anniversary theme, the third movie in the outdoor movie series will be Clueless this Friday. The party starts at 6:00pm with DJ music, an art-making activity, and food trucks serving tasty treats. Coolers and picnic baskets are welcome for your dinner on the hill before the film starts at 9:00pm. There will be an Art Lab for adults complete with an instructor and all the materials you need to create your own Film Series masterpiece. Alcoholic beverages and soft drinks will be available for purchase.

Move Live On Tour: Dancer/choreographers and Dancing With The Stars Champions, Julianne and Derek Hough, bring their high-energy dance showcase to St. Louis. Featuring a brand new stage production to showcase the fresh, exciting and high impact choreography spanning across a multitude of different dance styles that all audience members are sure to love! The Houghs will be joined by the Move Company Dancers in a fast paced show, featuring live vocal performances from both Julianne and Derek with incredible costumes and staging to complement.

Midwest Belgian Beer Fest: Perennial and Side Project, along with 46 other breweries host the 4th Annual Midwest Belgian Beer Fest. Midwest Belgian Beer Fest will be partnering with a local charity, Slow Food St. Louis, which aims to promote “fresh, local and sustainably-produced food, biodiversity and the preservation of food traditions, as well as celebrating the pleasures of the table.” In an effort to maximize donations, there will be a raffle for some awesome prizes. Tickets are $50 and include a tasting glass along with Belgian-style beers from over 46 breweries, including: 18th Street Brewery, 2nd Shift, 4 Hands, Against The Grain, Begyle, Bluejacket, Boulevard, Cigar City, Crooked Stave, Evil Twin, Goose Island, Half Acre, Hill Farmstead, and more. Food will be available for purchase from Completely Sauced.

Ice Cream Social: VB Chocolate Bar and Rack House West Winery in Cottleville will be partnering to host an Ice Cream Social at The Rack House West Winery on Saturday. VB Chocolate Bar will be making ice cream using Rack House exclusive wines as well as a variety of toppings. Stop by for a scoop of wine ice cream or create a sundae. There will also be Beer Floats! There will also be non-alcoholic ice cream available.

Hollywood Dash: The first-ever Hollywood Dash will unite all runners, walkers, rollers and spectators for a night of celebration and community. The evening includes a one mile effort, family movie and celebration Event. With its spirit of inclusion, the Hollywood Dash supports those with cognitive and developmental disabilities and the agencies that serve to enrich their lives. There will be food from local food trucks and an awards ceremony at 8:30pm followed by the Dreamworks animation, Turbo. Registration is $25 or $15 for children 13 and under.

Circus Harmony Flying Trapeze Show: The Circus Harmony Flying Trapeze Center is now open at Union Station. Men, women, and children can learn a new skill, or just enjoy a fun and daring adventure. And every time you fly, you help other children fly. “A portion of the proceeds from the Flying Trapeze Center goes towards our Wheels to Wings program which funds transportation for needy and deserving circus students to take circus classes at the Circus Harmony Center.” So come out on July 25th and watch Circus Harmony perform a daring trapeze show and then pay half price to swing on the trapeze.

American Fool & CC Revival: Two great cover bands will perform together this weekend at Wildey Theatre. First is American Fool, a John Mellencamp tribute, and CC Revival, a Creedence Clearwater Revival tribute. Hear covers of old favorite including: Jack & Diane, Pink Houses, Hurts So Good, Fortunate Son, Bad Moon Rising, Down on the Corner, and many more. Tickets are still available at $22.

Craft Beer Week: Beer Geek Fest: Craft Beer Week begins Saturday with the Midwest Belgian Beer Fest. Then Sunday, CBC continues the party with a festival featuring 24 breweries, food vendors, and prizes. This is the biggest event of the year. The brewery line up includes: Shmaltz, Sonoma Cider, Crwon Valley, Lagunitas, Boulevard, Hard Knock Ciders, New Holland, Kirkwood Station, New Belgium, Excel, Public House, Deschutes, and many more. Craft Beer Week continues through August 2nd with tons of other great events: check the schedule.

Pig Roast: Enjoy some swine and sides in the outdoor Beer Garden setting at the Budweiser Brew House. Starting at 11am and available until it’s gone. Spend only $10 for a full plate of pig, beans, slaw, and roll. Stick around and watch the Cardinals beat the Braves at home at 1:15pm. At 5pm, Barley Alive will perform live in the beer garden.

24th Annual St. Louis Tap Festival: This festival starts on Monday and runs through next Saturday, but it’s worth mentioning now. Enjoy a Salsa Night, Tap Jam – live music and tap improv, All That Tap XXIV Concert, panel discussions, and classes to try out a new talent.
