Date Night At Dierbergs

Anyone who knows me knows I love to cook. I love watching the smiles on the faces of my family when they take that first bite of a new recipe that I have made. They are such great guinea pigs. They are also honest critics when my recipes are not to be tried again.

So I was pleasantly surprised and excited when my husband told me about a delayed Christmas gift he had gotten for me. It was a date night at Dierbergs! Yes, I said Dierbergs. He made reservations at the Dierbergs School of Cooking Date Night.

We showed up to the Bogey Hills location a few minutes before 7pm on a Saturday night and were greeted by our Culinary Instructor, Nancy, and her Kitchen Assistant, Virginia. Nancy has been a part of the school of cooking for nine years and you can just see she has a great passion for teaching others the art of cooking.

There were several couples in the class with us as we all sat down at the bar in the fabulous Dierbergs Culinary School kitchen. They handed each one of the couples a recipe handbook that had five recipes inside. We were all asked to choose a recipe that we thought we would want to cook. Our menu folders had our drink recipe, appetizer recipe, the main dish recipes, two side dish recipes, and finally the dessert recipe. My husband and I chose the side dish recipe – Duchess Potatoes. The ladies of the kitchen made us all feel very comfortable. They choreographed all of the couples around the kitchen with ease as they showed us different techniques and ways to cook our food to perfection. Soon we all were finished with each of our recipes and were enjoying a fabulous meal made by all of us!

We had such a great time cooking and laughing and meeting new people. This was such a fun experience. The wonderful culinary professionals at Dierbergs School of Cooking take time in preparing the different recipes for each class. They have several convenient locations throughout St. Louis including: St. Charles, Ellisville, Creve Coeur, Des Peres, South County, and even Edwardsville, IL.

I highly recommend checking this out. Valentine’s Day is just around the corner, so you could take your sweetie out for a cooking date night. The classes are not just for couples; there are other types of classes such as Girls Night Out, Junior Chef for the kiddos, and a Family Affair class to get the kids and parents cooking together. There are hands-on classes as well as demonstration classes. No matter what type of cooking class you are interested in, they have it.

Check out Dierbergs.com/school for more information and happy cooking!
