Josh Turner Plays Downtown St. Louis Tonight

Josh Turner takes the stage at Soldiers Memorial tonight in the first concert of the Celebrate St. Louis Summer Concert series. Leslie Craig and Brian Bax are the opening acts. Bax takes the stage at 6 pm and Turner is set to play at 9 pm.

Josh Turner broke onto the country music scene in 2001 with “Long Black Train”. Turner has been nominated for multiple awards in his career, including Top New Artist, Song of the Year and Male Vocalist of the Year by various music associations.  Turner released his fifth studio album, “Punching Bag“, last year. “Time Is Love” was the lead single on that album and Billboard declared it the #1 Country Song of 2012. Josh Turner was inducted into the Grand Ole Opry into 2007. Here’s the video for his biggest hit song to date, “Why Don’t We Just Dance”

Leslie Craig has been all over the Nashville music scene, but she still calls St. Louis her home. She’s been playing recently around town with her band, The Hellbenders and played Mardi Gras in Soulard back in February with Clint Wilson. She recently released her first album, “Wild Card”. Her debut single, “Rockstar”, was picked to be the first single available on the New York Rock Exchange. The NYRE allows fans to buy “shares” of certain songs from artists. Leslie is a favorite at Tootsie’s Orchid Lounge, one of the premier live music establishments in Nashville.

Brian Bax is another local act, born and raised in Ballwin, Missouri. He is the lead vocalist and songwriter for the Brian Bax Band. They have music videos out for  “Sinkin’ In” and ‘Little Bitty Sweet Thang”. According to the band’s Facebook page, they just brought on Abby Stahlschmidt to play the fiddle in the band. Abby is also a local model who you might recognize from two billboards around town that feature her in advertisements for The Scholar Shop. The band will be releasing the official video for this song, “Backwoods Barbie”, soon.
