Soccer Takes Over Busch Stadium

Busch Stadium is so excited to be hosting it’s first professional non-baseball sporting event. Busch Stadium has begun making changes to turn the baseball field into a soccer field. The international exhibition match between two of the most notable English Premier Leagues, Chelsea Football Club and Manchester City, is scheduled for Thursday, May 23rd at 7:30pm with a training session to be held Wednesday, May 22nd at 7:00pm.

Game day tickets sold very quickly but there are still training session tickets available. The training session will begin at 7:00pm with several events to follow. The first event after training is a Crossbar Challenge. All attendees of the training session will receive a scratch off ticket when they enter the stadium. There will be five winners who will then be paired with a soccer player competing in the Crossbar Challenge. The fan whose soccer player wins the challenge will receive a trip for two to London to see Chelsea play during the 2013-2014 Season at Stamford Bridge Stadium. Following the Crossbar Challenge, there will be a live concert performed by the alt-rock band “Cracker” and fireworks. Tickets for the training session are $20.

What is a Crossbar Challenge you ask?

It’s a rarely accomplished challenge among Soccer players, where each player lines up one-by-one at the half-way line and attempts to kick the ball and hit the crossbar of the goal without the ball bouncing first.

This is definitely going to be a great match between these two fantastic teams. Common facts about both teams:

Soccer fan or not, this is an event not to be missed. Do you have your tickets yet?
