Thanksgiving Decorating Ideas

Thanksgiving is less than a week away and BAM, I find out I am hosting over a dozen people. My husband is ecstatic because this is his absolute favorite holiday. I am a little freaked out because our house is a mess and I need to decorate and make it way more festive! So on to pinterest and etsy I go to figure out what to do in a pinch. Here are some of the fabulous Thanksgiving decorating ideas I found that are both easy to create and inexpensive.

The first item is the Thankful Tree. This is the perfect way to display all the things you are thankful for…in addition to those lovely Facebook days of thanks notes I keep seeing. This would be perfect in the foyer or on a sideboard in the dining room. It would also be great for everyone to add a thankful item to before dinner.

Now for a cute centerpiece that is e-a-s-y! Grab some popping corn, hurricane pillars, and candles. You can also do this so the candle actually sits in the corn or spice it up by using other colorful items instead like regular corn, acorns, cranberries, coffee beans, dried white or black beans, split peas, you get the picture. (Just be careful with the cranberries – they will start to cook and pop if they get too hot)

I loved this idea as an addition to the Corn Candles (especially if you use dried white and black beans and metallic acorns with the candles)…and you get to use fun metallic paint and finally have a reason to buy those adorable mini pumpkins, gourds, and pomegranates at the store! It looks incredibly romantic and sophisticated.

I also love, love, love little acorns. They make for a super cute napkin ring. You could substitute mini pine cones for the acorns and get a few small pieces of wheat to put behind the ribbon to add a special touch.

Wheat is fun to play with in the fall. I think I may use it too often. Here is a centerpiece you can make at home by grabbing some wheat and other tall green floral pieces and put them together with ribbon. You can also scale down the size if necessary. It looks great with the natural color tablecloth and a deeper color napkin.

Lastly, you need a door ornament. I am a fan of corn tied together with a festive ribbon. Mostly because I am cheap and slightly less crafty than most people.

So I guess I will throw on my Thanksgiving apron because it is cute and watch my husband cook all the food 🙂 He generally wears this crazy turkey head-piece, jealous ladies?
