Kris Allen Plays Off Broadway

What’s Kris Allen, the 2009 winner of American Idol doing now? Still playing music of course and he happens to be in St. Louis on October 3rd at Off Broadway.

Kris Allen beat out Adam Lambert to win season 8 of American Idol. He then released two albums with that label before moving on to RCA. He parted ways with them on September 19. You can read all about that on Wikipedia.  His first single “Live Like We’re Dying” apparently peaked at number eighteen in the U.S. with combined sales of over 1.7 million.

While Kris Allen hasn’t had near the success of fellow Idol winners Carrie Underwood or Kelly Clarkson, he has done some pretty cool things for a guy who auditioned for Idol as a “last hurrah” before giving up the full-time music thing. Besides singing, he also co-wrote songs on the debut albums of both Javier Colon, the first winner of The Voice and Matthew Morrison, of Glee fame.

Here are a few of my favorite Kris Allen performances:

Audition: This wasn’t shown in full originally on Idol.

Top 36 Performance of “Man In The Mirror”.

Singing “Let It Be” on Idol Gives Back.

Singing “Kiss A Girl” with Keith Urban.

Doors open at 7pm tomorrow, October 3rd, at Off Broadway.  Tickets are $20 at the door. There is also a $75 package available that includes a pre-show visit with Kris and a signed poster.
