Real Life STL

St. Lou Fringe Festival

St Lou Fringe is a cutting edge performing arts festival happening in Midtown St. Louis from June 21-June 25. It’s a 5 day festival taking place at 4 different venues with 30 performers.

These are unique performers unlike most others. They dabble in a little bit of everything: theater, dance, performance art, comedy, vaudeville/circus and more. On any given night, there will be half-a-dozen shows with street performers roaming the festival grounds. Patrons can vote for their favorite shows but will never be able to see everything the festival offers.

I had the opportunity to witness some of the artists and their talents during the Cinco de Mayo festival on Cherokee Street back in May and from that alone, I immediately began googling Fringe fest to find out more about it.

To check out all 30 performers and learn a little about what you’ll see, check out this link: 2012 Performances.

While I’m still not quite sure entirely what it’s about, I think that’s part of the allure, so I recommend getting over to their box office to get your tickets to witness a unique, only in St. Louis festival. You can order tickets online or at the box office, located at 3141 Locust. (And your ticket price includes a fun button also).

Here are some quick details:

Cost: $5-$12 (depending on which performances you want to see)

Where: There are 4 different locations, each hosting different performances by different artists. The 4 locations include Fubar, Cabaret & Black Box in the Kranzberg Arts Center and Nash Motor Company at 3000 Locust.

Along with the great performances, there will be some really great after parties at Westgate Lofts, The Coliseum and KOTA Woodfire Grill in Grand Center and a fun Hangover Brunch (wear your p.j.s) at Plush on the 25th.

A great quote from The Fringe website: St Lou Fringe will blossom a developing local neighborhood into a creative hotspot destination and will expose patrons to new art forms, and the limitless world of creative possibility.
