I love fruits and veggies, in season, fresh, local, organic.  Yum!!  St. Louis is surrounded by farm land and while that can be looked at by many as a downside it does mean lots of fresh local produce and farmer’s markets with real farmers.  While I love the atmostphere of our best known market, Soulard, there are so many others to try out.

This list isn’t all of the farmers markets in St. Louis, but it’s a pretty good start.

A Guide To St. Louis Farmers Markets

1. Soulard Farmers Market: Open year round Wednesday & Thursday 8a – 5p, Friday 7a – 5p and Saturday 7a – 5:30p. 730 Caroll St. in Soulard.

2. North City Farmers Market: Open June – October  Saturdays from 10a – 1p, Located at St. Louis & N 14th St (across from Crowne Candy Kitchen).

3. Tower Grove Farmers Market: Open April 12 – October on Saturdays from 8a – 12p in Tower Grove Park. 4256 Magnolia Ave

4. Ferguson Farmers Market: Open May – October on Saturdays from 8a – 12p at 20 S Florissant Rd. They also have an Indoor Winter Market, which is open 3rd Saturday of every month from 9a – 12p at St. Stephens, with April 19th being the last one for 2014.

5. Schlafly (Maplewood) Farmers Market: Open April – October outside (Winter market held indoors) at 7260 Southwest Ave on Wednesdays from 4p – 7p.

6. Clayton Farmers Market: Open starting May 1 – October on Thursdays from 4:30p – 7:30p on North Central Street in downtown Clayton.

7. Kirkwood Farmers Market: April 4 – September 27. Monday – Friday 9a – 6p and Saturday from 8a -5p. Located at 150 East Argonne in Kirkwood.

8. Alton Farmer’s and Artisans Market: June 2 – October 13 open Wednesdays from 4p – 7p and Saturday 8a – 12p at a new location this year at 9th and Piasa.
