Britney Spears Joins James Corden In The SUV For Some Carpool Karaoke And Releases 9th Studio Album, Glory

Britney Spears appeared on Carpool Karaoke this week with James Corden to do some singing, talk about the meaning of songs and Corden’s donut habit. The appearance was in promotion of the release of her ninth studio album, Glory, which was released today. Spears will also perform at Sunday’s MTV Video Music awards for the first time since 2007.

The Carpool Karaoke segment, a part of The Late Late Show with James Corden, also touched on Britney’s desire to have more children and her lack of faith in marriage. Spears educated Corden on bondage and tickling as well.

Spears has received some criticism for not really doing much singing during her stint in the SUV with Corden. To be fair, it has to be hard for anyone to sit in the passenger seat next to Corden and his boundless enthusiasm.

Glory, the ninth studio album from Britney Spears, was released today to stores and digital music platforms. Media outlets have largely been thrilled with the new music. Rolling Stone gave the album 3 1/2 stars and called it “another fantastic comeback” in a glowing review. Neil McCormick of The Telegraph gave the album 3-out-of-5 stars but called it “bubblegum pop perfection.”

Spears is scheduled to perform at this Sunday’s MTV Video Music Awards for the first time since 2007. She’ll perform “Make Me. . . ” from her new album along with G-Eazy. Sunday’s performance is highly-anticipated with outlets doing recent stories on her past VMA performances. MTV has a story on Banana, the albino burmese python that joined Spears on-stage for her 2001 performance. The Telegraph has the story behind Spears’ life at the time of the largely-panned 2007 performance.

What should we expect from Spears on Sunday? As evidenced by the Carpool Karaoke video above and the positive reviews of her new album, Spears appears to be in a better place in life and that should bode well for us all.
