War Dogs, Kubo and the Two Strings & Ben-Hur Open In Movies Theaters Around St. Louis This Weekend

War Dogs. Kubo and the Two Strings and Ben-Hur are the top movies to open in movie theaters around St. Louis this weekend. Ice Age: Collision Course begins showing  at Keller 8, while Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice is now available at Redbox.

War Dogs opens tonight at MX Movies in downtown St. Louis and will be showing throughout the weekend. Sausage Party and Suicide Squad are also showing at the downtown theater.

Recapping Last Weekend

Suicide Squad easily took the weekend box office crown, but saw its receipts drop more than 67 percent in its second weekend of release. The film brought in $43.5 million to easily beat Sausage Party‘s debut of $34.3 million. Pete’s Dragon debuted in third place with $21.5 million

Jason Bourne brought in $13.8 million in its third weekend of release to bring its domestic take to $127 million, surpassing its $120 million budget.

The weekend’s other debut, Florence Foster Jenkins, brought in $6.6 million.

War Dogs has a lot going for it in terms of things that will make you want to go see it. Miles Teller is one of the most interesting actors in Hollywood right now. Reviews are saying that Jonah Hill gives a great performance.  And it’s based on the true story of Efraim Diveroli, David Packouz, and Alex Podrizki.

Todd M. Thatcher predicts an opening weekend of $13.4 million for War Dogs.

Ben-Hur

The 1880 novel Ben-Hur comes to the screen for the fifth time this weekend with Ben-Hur. Morgan Freeman and Jack Huston are among the stars of this film directed by Timur Bekmambetov.

Todd M. Thatcher predicts an opening weekend of $16.3 million for Ben-Hur.

Kubo and the Two Strings

One review calls Kubo and the Two Strings, the latest from Laika, “cartoon magic” and a “quirky delight.” Charlize Theron and Matthew McConaughey are among the stars that lends their voices to the characters in this animated film set in ancient Japan.
