** Floyd Mayweather Jr. beat Conor McGregor by 10th round TKO on August 26, 2017. Mayweather improved his career boxing record to 50-0 with the victory. By his own estimates, Mayweather made about $300 million on the fight. The fighter tried to make even more money by placing a $400,000 bet on himself the day of the fight in Las Vegas. He was unfortunately only able to bet $87,000.
Boxing legend Floyd Mayweather Jr. will take on mixed martial arts great Conor McGregor in a boxing match on Saturday, August 26 in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Outlets like ESPN think the McGregor-Mayweather fight will be a lopsided affair in Mayweather’s favor. You have a boxer with a 49-0 record and 26 knockouts taking on a mixed martial artist that has never boxed professionally before.
Floyd Mayweather Jr. is the heavy favorite in terms of the gambling books. Gavin and Joe Maloof, the former owners of the NBA’s Sacramento Kings, have bet $880,000 on Mayweather to win. Should Mayweather win, they stand to make around $160,000 –which they’ve pledged to donate to charities in the Las Vegas area.
However, the odds have been moving in McGregor’s favor as of late with the majority of the money being bet in his favor. A $100 bet on the Irish MMA fighter to win originally would have netted $950, that figure is now down to $375.
Two important aspects of the match will be decided this week, the size of the gloves the fighters will wear and who will referee the fight.
