See Girls Trip at MX Movies in downtown St. Louis tonight. Spider-Man: Homecoming and War for the Planet of the Apes are also playing at the theater this weekend.
Recapping Last Weekend
War for the Planet of the Apes easily took the weekend box office crown over the weekend with a $56.3 million debut. Spider-Man: Homecoming brought in $44.2 million in its second weekend of release Despicable Me 3 brought in $19.4 million in its third weekend of release and has now topped $188 million at the domestic box office.
The Big Sick brought in $7.5 million as it expanded across the country last weekend. Wish Upon took in just shy of $5.5 million in its debut.
Opening This Weekend
Dunkirk
Christopher Nolan wrote and directed the WWII film Dunirk, in movie theaters this weekend. Fionn Whitehead, Damien Bonnard and Aneurin Barnard star in the film that British historian calls fairly accurate.

Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets
Director Luc Besson had a budget of $180 million to play with in making Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets, in theaters this weekend. Was investing that much money in a soap opera in space a good idea? Time will tell, but early reviews say the film at least looks fantastic on screen.
