Despicable Me 3
The third film in the Despicable Me franchise, Despicable Me 3, hits theaters this weekend. The last installment in the franchise, released in 2013, opened with $83.5 million in receipts on its way to $368 million during its theater run. It was the fourth highest-grossing movie of the year behind Frozen, Iron Man 3 and The Hunger Games: Catching Fire.
The 2013 film lost to Frozen in the Oscar race for Best Feature Film. This year’s edition won the acclaim of Peter Travers at Rolling Stone, who praised the work of Steve Carell on the film. Carell returns as the voice of Gru and adds the voice of long-lost twin Dru in this turn.
Also lending their voices to characters in this film are Kristen Wiig, Trey Parker, Miranda Cosgrove, Julie Cosgrove, Piere Coffin, among others.
Todd M Thatcher predicts an opening weekend of $88.7 million for Despicable Me 3.
