Selena Gomez and her mother are executive producers of the 13-episode series based on Asher’s novel. Universal Pictures originally  aquired the rights to the book’s adaptation and intended for Gomez to star in the film. The series comes from Anonymous Content, which was also behind the Netflix hit The OA.

Katherine Langord plays Hannah, whose suicide forms the basis of the series. Dylan Minnette, who had a lead role in Goosebumps alongside Jack Black, portrays Clay Jensen. After Hannah’s suicide, Clay receives a box of cassette tapes one day in the mail.

On those tapes he hears Hannah’s voice. He isn’t the first person to listen to those tapes, but there is a reason they were sent to him.

The series also stars Christian Navarro and Michael Sadler.

13 Reasons Why premieres on Netflix on March 31, 2017. Watch the trailer below.
