The film with a budget of $9 million is now the highest-grossing Shyamalan project since 2010’s The Last Airbender.

Rings was the top debut film over the weekend with a $13 million opening weekend. A Dog’s Purpose brought in $10.5 million in its second weekend of release while Hidden Figures edged closer to $120 million at the domestic box office with a $10.2 million weekend.

Opening This Weekend

The LEGO Batman Movie

The LEGO Batman movie definitely isn’t a typical superhero movie. It’s more a parody of superhero movies. The movie critic over at local outlet The Riverfront Times calls it one of the best superhero movies of all-time. If you liked The LEGO Movie or happen to be a fan of Batman, this one is a must-see for you this weekend.

Todd M. Thatcher predicts a massive opening weekend of $65.8 million for The LEGO Batman Movie.

Fifty Shades Darker

Fifty Shades of Grey debuted to $85 million in ticket sales back in 2015. Fifty Shades Darker, based on the second novel in the series from E.L. James, definitely won’t cause the same stampede of soccer moms to the theater. Several critics have said this sequel is better than the original, however.

Jamie Dornan and Dakota Johnson return in the lead roles of Christian Grey and Anastasia Steele. Johnson, who has been busy promoting Darker in recent weeks, revealed to Seth Meyers that things can get a little awkward when fans think she is exactly like Anastasia in real life.

Todd M. Thatcher predicts an opening weekend of $44.8 million for Fifty Shades Darker.

Keanu Reeves is back as John Wick in John Wick: Chapter 2. The 2014 original opened to $14.4 million on its way to $86 million worldwide at the box office. The film became a classic among action movie fans not too long after it was released. Vox recently wrote an article examing “Why John Wick Rules So Hard”.

Todd M. Thatcher predicts an opening weekend of $20.7 million for John Wick: Chapter 2.

The Accountant

Ben Affleck is an accountant that happens to be on the Autism spectrum in The Accountant. He toils away on the numbers in a seemingly ordinary strip mall. You can surely guess that that isn’t what the movie is about.

I thoroughly enjoyed The Accountant and highly reccomend it. Make sure you’re paying attention. You don’t want to have to have an interesting and important detail pointed out to you after the credits roll.

Anna Kendrick and J. K. Simmons are among the other stars in the film.

Kevin Hart: What Now?, The Birth of a Nation and Max Steel are also now available to rent at your local Redbox.
